Lieberman was the Chief Development Officer and a member of the executive team of The Apollo, the largest African American performing arts center in the country, for 12 years. In that role, she was responsible for raising more than $12 million annually to support the organization’s artistic, education and community programs and over the past five years, she increased contributed revenue by 47%. This included new corporate philanthropy and sponsorship for both program and capital needs. She also directed the organization’s special campaigns, which have raised more than $100 million for large scale artistic programs, the capital campaign, and cash reserve. The Apollo’s current capital campaign has raised $70 million to support the creation of two new theaters in the Victoria Restoration project, a public/private partnership, the restoration of the historic Apollo Theater as well as program expansion and reserves.
As Director of Strategic Gifts, New York for Feeding America, Lieberman was part of a team that began the organization’s major donor program creating opportunities for high-net-worth individuals to make an impact on hunger in America. She identified, cultivated, and solicited a portfolio of 40 + strategic gift prospects capable of giving a $1 million or more to Feeding America, successfully soliciting the organization’s first $3 million, multi-year gift. Lieberman was the principal donor strategist for each prospect in her portfolio with responsibility for qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship using senior executives at Feeding America, network member food banks, board members and high-level volunteers as needed.
Lieberman has held senior level development positions at The New York Botanical Garden, the Museum of the City of New York, and the School of American Ballet among others. She was the Director of the Campaign for New York City Ballet, raising more than $58 million for the Ballet’s first endowment campaign. Lieberman served as the founding Managing Director for MAKOR, a center for Jewish life and culture on Manhattan’s upper west side; and as Managing Director of the WPA Theatre.
